FGC Times: Wizards of the Coast to release “Ghosts of Salt Marsh” May 21, 2019

“Ghosts of Saltmarsh”

Wizards of the Coast have announced the next product to be released, “Ghosts of Salt Marsh” will hit stores on May 21, 2019. If you purchase your copy in your local gaming store, you could choose from the original cover or an alternate design with a soft-touch finish.

So, what is “Ghosts of Salt Marsh?” If you recall the recent release, “Tales from the Yawning Portal,” which combined seven different adventures from previous D&D editions into one nice package. “Ghosts of Salt Marsh” revisits this concept taking seven nautical adventures from 1st edition and updates them to 5th edition rules.

Included in the package are:

  1. The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh

  2. Danger at Dunwater

  3. The Final Enemy

  4. Salvage Operation

  5. Isle of the Abbey

  6. Tammeraut’s Fate

  7. The Styes

A DM can take these one at a time and create a campaign that takes players from level 1-12. Or, they can take things piecemeal and insert them inside their own campaigns. In addition, the appendices include the mechanics for a DM to create epic ship-to-ship combat. Plus, you can expect new magic items and monsters.

Mike Mearls, the franchise creative director of D&D had this to say about “Ghosts of Salt Marsh.”

“The Saltmarsh series consistently ranks as one of the most popular classic D&D adventures. With its ties to ocean-based adventuring, it was an obvious step to augment it with additional sea-based adventures and a robust set of rules for managing a nautical campaign.”

You can pre-order the hard-cover book from your local game store, or from online book stores, such as Barnes & Noble and Amazon, or if you prefer to view the product online, you can pre-order a digital version through D&D Beyond.

The hard cover book pre-order price is $49.95, while the digital copy is available for $29.95.

If you order through D&D Beyond, you will unlock special character frames, character backdrops, and theme colors from Ghosts of the Saltmarsh for the digital character sheet on D&D Beyond.
